A few basic concepts

  • Web pages are text files
  • Web page filenames end with "html" or "htm"
  • Web page files are made up of two types of information
    • web codes, called "tags"
    • Content, the words and pictures that you want people to see

Tags consist of a tag name inside of two angle brackets. The ending tag consists of a slash (/), followed by the tag name, inside of angle brackets.

Two sections of a web page:

Head Section
Is for information about the web page. The only information that is always present is the title of the document.
Body Section
The Body section contains the content of the page...or the information that we want people to be able to read.
