Foundation Action Topics

Item 336	Present, or let students discover, authentic problems which they can then, collaboratively, suggest and examine potential solutions.

Item 337	Trust teachers.
Item 338	Give teachers and schools ownership and responsibility for their own learning. Homogenization is limiting and neglectful of student needs.
Item 339	Create national curricula for science and math. Incorporate aspects of Korean, Finnish and Canadian curricula. Involve US academia/business.
Item 342	Focus on process; assess for acqusition of thinking skills, habits of mind, creativity, collaboration, the environment, and a world view.

Phase 1

Spend about two-and-a-half days composing and posting clear and succinct (140 character limit) priority actions for a U.S. Ed Department aimed at promoting and empowering a system that better prepares today�fs children for their future.

I am asking folks to match only five items. You can match more if you have time.
To the left, you see one of the statements submitted during the past two days. Just beneath that are eight foundation topics that I have culled from the 176 items contributed by educators. There are four more statements beneath the foundation topics, waiting to be considered.
Read the statement at the top and then decide which of the eight topics it best fits into and then click the [Put Item ## Here] link to the right of the topic.
When you click the link, that item will go away, replaced by the next one. Again, select the most logical topic and click it.
You will be asked to match five statements. At the end, click [Yes] to match five more.

The final action statements, along with their associated statements will be published here, with a request that education bloggers and microbloggers share their insights about their favorite statements, tagging their bloggs appropriatedly.

Phase 4

A Facility will be added that enables us to prioritize the action statements in order of importance and sequence. Comments will be collected.
